Farzana Adell

Senior Researcher

Farzana Adell is a Gender Studies researcher and advocate for women's rights. She is committed to gender equality, and established the Gender Equality Research Organization in Afghanistan as an initiative to champion women's rights within the country. Currently, she is a member of the Core Advisory Group of the Association of Women's International Development (AWID) based in Canada and a member of the research on Afghan Migrants at the Global Diversity and Inequality Research Centre (GDIRC) in London.

Since 2005, Farzana has actively engaged in women's capacity-building projects, collaborating with local and international organisations in Afghanistan. Her extensive experience has allowed her to contribute significantly to the empowerment of women and the advancement of their rights. In addition to her impactful work on the ground, Farzana has served as the Chief of Staff to the senior advisor of the President of Afghanistan in United Nations Affairs, specifically focusing on matters regarding United Nations activity in Afghanistan.

Farzana holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Cardiff Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. Furthermore, she has earned an MA in Women and Child Abuse from London Metropolitan University. The main focus of her dissertation was on the domestic abuse experienced by Afghan women living in the UK, solidifying her expertise in critical issues affecting women and children. She has published several research articles relating to Women and Child studies. Farzana Adell continues to be an inspirational force in pursuing gender equality, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of women’s rights in Afghanistan and beyond.
